festival evaluation
i think that the festival didnt go to well because the lack of group effort aswel as we should of put the posters out much sooner than i did because then more people would of been aware of when the festival was going to happen.
we could of possible included more things for the festival to attrack more people other than the people that turned up because it was there work geting shown but the work we did do looked really profeshonal and worked well.
also perhaps locate it in a more well known area like the commen room or canteen because some people was un able to locate the festival even tho the room number was righten down people didnt even know where to begin to look for it.
but its all swings and round abouts because the room we did use was really good because we was able to block out the sun light and give the projector its full protentalv but it only appealed to the people on the floor all ready and have an intrest in the media work in the first place.

2.3 job roles
Catering is a business of providing foodservice at a remote site.
Catering is a member of waiting staff who serves food at dining tables or sets up a self-serve buffet. The food may be prepared on site, i.e., made completely at the event, or the caterer may choose to bring prepared food and put the finishing touches on once it arrives. I think I have the right cooking skill to be able to do this role successfully because I cook all the time and have cooked for a large amount of people and have gained a large range of meals that im able to cook well.
Sound operation
Sound operator is the person responsible for the overall and total execution of all sound-related aspects of a theatrical performance. This job may include operating a mixing console and sound reinforcement system, as well as co-ordinating sound effects and mixing microphones. The sound operator reports to the sound designer, stage manager, and technical director. I think that I can do this role because of my knowledge of music along with skill using numbers of music technology software
Sponsors
me and Lewis olives role includes going around trying to gain sponsors from local business and industries local to Crawley we will do this by going in to the place and telling them what we are doing and why and ask if they want to take part in the funding or faculties in relevance to are festival project. I hope to gain sponsors by food companies i.e. mc Donald’s, burger king and sport clothing shop i.e. JD, jjb, sports world
Venue booking
Is the person responsible of booking the location of where the festival and insuring that the venue is fit for the festival and the right size I will need to complete this role by successfully organizing and planning this to the best of my abilities?

2.2 presentation of idears
What's it going to be about:
Music - djing or just mix tapes = drum n bass, dub set, dance, club, garage, trance, hip hop, reggae
Radio - impact fm covers all this music if cant get dj or cds
Video - college clip of work done either by us or other groups, possible music videos relevent to music being played, advertise college course, clips of are animation or other ones
Where is it going to be help:
Crawley college- would be a good location because we are here any way and wouldent cost any to use also loads of rooms we could use
Haywards heath college- great place to use because the Hub is there and has all the facilities needed to run a small festival
The Hawth- has a lot of space to use but may cost the college so will need to obtain more infomation about it and to see if they have any events on during the time we are looking at doing are festival

who is likley to attend:
the target audience for this festival will be mainly directed toward people attending college but if i had to put an age range on it i would have to say 14 to 24 because that is the main age range for college pupils

1.5 report
Differences in the type of festival:
Specialised music festival
One Love festival is the UK no.1 reggae dub set event that runs from the 6th of august till the 8th, located in London at Hainault Forest Country Park, Fox Borrow Road. The reson for this festival is Because it’s a tribute to bob Marley and also because there aren’t many festivals just focused on reggae. There target audience is a vast age range but its more directed to people that enjoy reggae and With just a small fee of Adult full weekend pass - £90, Child* full weekend pass - £50, Family full weekend pass - £200 this event is sponsored by Wray and nephews over proof rum and kiss along with other industrys but only a couply help with fundings it also does a number of other things during the day such as diversity Spoken Word and Lectures, a Caribbean Carnival Procession, Bigger Campsite, Fair Trade Village, Woodland Walks, Kids Petting Zoo.
General music festival
Wireless East festival is a six-day festival, led by the Mayor of London that celebrates the uniquely rich creative mix of East London. The festival gives people the chance to see some big named artists on stage the artists that do attend are Don Letts, DJ ADHDJS, Dub Heart its target audience is more directed to people between 16 to 26 but also to people that have an intrest in music, It takes place over six days from Thursday 4 March to Tuesday 9 March. On their wireless east festival agenda is a wide range of events with world-class artists, exciting spaces, walks, tours and some quirky participation opportunities too. The East Festival explores themes relevant to the area, and this year's festival looks at Architecture, the Asian Sub Continent, Travel and Minimalism. And tickets cost £47.50 and VIP is £199 it’s sponsored by Super Brake, Thomas Cook, 02 and so many more alot of them help with funding to run the wireless festival.
The New York international independent film and video festival (NYIIFVF) witch is in place for all people intrested in video and film at a high level and also at amature levels is one of the largest independent film festivals in the world. It began in 1993. It has been recognized by the film and entertainment industry as one of the leading film events on the independent festival circuit. The festival hosts film, music and art events in the two entertainment capitals of the United States: New York and Los Angeles. NYIIFVF attracts many global entries, including: Australia, Brazil, Sweden, Kenya, Japan, Canada, France, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Mexico, Colombia, Russia, Germany, Spain, India and the U.K so as you can imagine this festival is rather large. The next one is in Los Angeles on Feb 25 - March 4Th 2010 and to gain information about the cost of entrance contact: Administrator: 702-263-4480
There are many differences between these three festivals due to the cost of each and how the location effects the amount of people that go and some times the date planed for the festival effects the amount of people but the one think they have in common is there medium to large but none really small for example like the redfest festival help in redhill witch is just a small town that’s only ever had small time band playing and costs as little as £35 for the whole event and a even smaller festival called nice n sleazy that’s held at Trimpell Sports and Social Club, Morecombe, Lancs., is on 28-30 May 2010 this small punk wave festival has 2 stages and free camping and cost as little as £45
Differences in size and scale:
One love is a smaller event due to its location and the funds and sponsors there given is not that much. The main reason for this is the artists that play there are unlikely to have a big star rating where as Wireless is one of the biggest music festivals and gets alot of funds and sponsors from big industrys in England because of that it attracts some really big artists so needs to be in a large area to accomadate every one. NYIIFVF is also one of the largest video and film festival due to its nature and its target audience is world wide so it will bring in a very very large amount of people so the mass of land needed is very large where as in comparison to redfest thats a little event due to it being located in redhill witch is a small town with small land mass for an option to use along with nice n sleazy witch is also a rather small event help at a social club thats also a rather small area to have a festival that effects the amount of people that can attened

1.4 discuss the following two qustions
1 How would you decide how small or large a particular festival is?
if there was loads of advertisement all other the place (web, TV, radio, newspaper) your easily no that's its going to be a big event depending on if its on a locale radio station or an bigger well none one then depending witch your know also by the location of the event well give an idea of if its going to be like for example if its helped in a local field its going to be a small event where as if it was help in say New York your going to know it will be big also by the names of people going if its people that are on TV (popstars, rockstars) your no it will be big for them to attend where as if there all unknown names its likely to be small
2 What factors might determine the scale of a festival?
first you would need to decide your target audience if your doing a locale festival with say local music band the you wouldn't need to much room due to there not being a large amount of people likely to go but if its got more important people involved then the more likely your need a bigger land mass due to the amount of people that would want to go also the bigger the star factor the bigger amount of people likely to want to participate
how each of the festivals you have identified is funded?
one love -local authority funded, sponsored by kiss, the voice,
wireless -lottery funded, sponsored by barclaycard and others but doesn't show them
(NYIIFVF) - arts council funded, funded by a trust, sponsored by IDQ magazine

1.3 display the poster and complete the poster questions
1 How does the programme content of each of the festivals you have researched differ?
one love - reggae & drum n bass music festival
(NYIIFVF) new york - film & video festival
wireless - music festival
2 In what ways might the content be determined or influenced by the scale of the event?
one love- will influence reggae & drum n bass artists and music from famous artists like bob Marley this event will attract people from all other the country that enjoy reggae the income of a small festival like this wont be able to get big artists so due to this will only be able to hold a smaller event
(NYIIFVF) - will influence people interested in video and film its a big major international event where people all over the world will attend due to this being the largest film and video festival in the hole world it has a rather large income and famous people will attend due to the capacity of the event and its importance
wireless - will influence a world wide audience due to it being one of the largest international music events held in the UK and due to it being a very large event it attracts some big stars and also the land that the events holds capacity its large it can have thousands of people attending witch increases the amount of income
3 What have you noticed about the way in which different festivals focus on a single arts discipline or combine one or more?
festivals witch focus on single art are normally smaller than one that focus or more than one thing due to the capacity of each individual thing has its own limit of size due to health and safety (risk assessments) and if its got more that one discipline it will attract more that one specific target audience because it will attract a much larger range of people
