2.3 job roles

Catering is a business of providing foodservice at a remote site.

Catering is a member of waiting staff who serves food at dining tables or sets up a self-serve buffet. The food may be prepared on site, i.e., made completely at the event, or the caterer may choose to bring prepared food and put the finishing touches on once it arrives. I think I have the right cooking skill to be able to do this role successfully because I cook all the time and have cooked for a large amount of people and have gained a large range of meals that im able to cook well.

Sound operation

Sound operator is the person responsible for the overall and total execution of all sound-related aspects of a theatrical performance. This job may include operating a mixing console and sound reinforcement system, as well as co-ordinating sound effects and mixing microphones. The sound operator reports to the sound designer, stage manager, and technical director. I think that I can do this role because of my knowledge of music along with skill using numbers of music technology software

Sponsors

me and Lewis olives role includes going around trying to gain sponsors from local business and industries local to Crawley we will do this by going in to the place and telling them what we are doing and why and ask if they want to take part in the funding or faculties in relevance to are festival project. I hope to gain sponsors by food companies i.e. mc Donald’s, burger king and sport clothing shop i.e. JD, jjb, sports world

Venue booking

Is the person responsible of booking the location of where the festival and insuring that the venue is fit for the festival and the right size I will need to complete this role by successfully organizing and planning this to the best of my abilities?

What's it going to be about:

Music - djing or just mix tapes = drum n bass, dub set, dance, club, garage, trance, hip hop, reggae

Radio - impact fm covers all this music if cant get dj or cds

Video - college clip of work done either by us or other groups, possible music videos relevent to music being played, advertise college course, clips of are animation or other ones

Where is it going to be help:

Crawley college- would be a good location because we are here any way and wouldent cost any to use also loads of rooms we could use

Haywards heath college- great place to use because the Hub is there and has all the facilities needed to run a small festival

The Hawth- has a lot of space to use but may cost the college so will need to obtain more infomation about it and to see if they have any events on during the time we are looking at doing are festival

01.04.2010 up date pros and cons of the canteen and common room in crawley college

pros:
large room
eating area so people will allready be there
there are seats
good area to show work (projections)
cons:
we are only able to use a small part of the canteen
noise control ( un-likley to have music)
no blinds so bright area
pros:
people know where it is
computer friendly
theres safe places to display things
theres blinds to shut out light so would be clearer to see a projection
cons:
small room soo want get many people in there
theres classes opposite so may need to control noice
who is likley to attend:

the target audience for this festival will be mainly directed toward people attending college but if i had to put an age range on it i would have to say 14 to 24 because that is the main age range for college pupils

2.1 festival notes

1. A film and Media festival could take many forms and have lots of different content.

movie clips, music, performing arts, comedy, still images, dance, arts, costumes, book talk, culture- religion, 3-d images, holograms

Hologram
Pros- looks good, attracts attention
Cons- would costs loads, finding the right people with the technology

Moving images
Pros- easy to gain examples can cover a large range of target audience
Cons- if large event people may not see it, copy right unless we show in schools or college, age of audience consider swearing

Performing arts
Pros- Varity of options like dance/ performance/ comedy/ opera, audience interaction, broad appealing
Cons- getting people to perform, the cost of people performing, space/ security

Book talks
Pros- easy to get, to gain large audience
Cons- not very interesting, wouldn't appeal to younger people

2. Think about the location of such a festival, would it be local to the college or open to all residents of Crawley?
South gate playing field, Goffs Park, Crawley town centre, Tilgate Park, Cineworld

Crawley or Hayward heath colleges
Pros- free of charge, here any way, resources, instant access
Cons- small rooms, 2 sites means double planning, other things going on e.g. lessons

K2
Pros- large land, well known location, indoors & out
Cons- costs, availability, moving things, timing

The Hawth
Pros- large area, resources, has a link with Crawley College, experience
Cons- costs, permission, timing, getting stuff there

3. Think about guests that might attend the event?
Young, teenager, students but will have to see if held in college to see if non college members can attend, parents, very young kids with parents, 14-24, we will have to make sure that the material used in are festival is suitable to be viewed by kids

4. How much will this event cost?
If we choose to use the college it will cost nothing but if we use the Hawth or any where else it will cost us which mean we either need to get sponsors to help with the funding or get the college to help fund it

5. What time span would this festival cover, remember some festivals are on for a day others a month.
We are planning on doing are festival over the 20th and 21st of May this year
